Come join Your Local Hive as we host Ken Lee and Caryl Levine, founders of Lotus Foods, for a sit-down dinner and journey throughout the world of their heirloom and handcrafted rice. We will begin by tasting each of their ancient and new varieties, cultivated in remote areas of Bhutan, Bangladesh, northern Italy and Texas. Then, Ken and Caryl will educate us on the terroir of rice, geopolitical issues of growing it, and Lotus Foods revolutionary non-flooding techniques.
During our meal, Italian chef, Gino Campagna, will lead us in a tableside demo of his Parmese grandmother’s classic springtime risotto, using Lotus Foods' Carnaroli, the "caviar of rice."
Biodynamic wines from our friends at Martian Ranch & Winery will be poured throughout the meal and everyone goes home with a sample of the heirloom varieties and recipes from our meal. Also, their assortment of rice will be on sale at our Your Local Hive popup store after the meal.
